Gold for Gagan

THODUPUZHA: Gagan Narang of Air India won the men’s 50m free rifle 3 position gold in the National Shooting championships here on Saturday.

Gagan, who led the qualification round with 1163 points, shot 98.4 points in the final to finish with a total of 1258.5 points. Navy won the team title followed by Army and ITBP.

Chain Singh of Army won the junior title with 1125 points.

Army won the team title while Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra finished second and third respectively.

The results: Men: 50m free rifle 3 position: 1. Gagan Narang (AI) (1261.4), 2. Sanjeev Rajput (Navy) (1258.5), 3. Imran Hassan Khan (Army) (1249.5)

Team: 1. Navy (3441 pts), 2. Army (3436), 3. ITBP (3372).

Juniors: 1. Chain Singh (Army), (1125), 2. Rajul Kala (Army) (1118), 3. Allan James (Ker) (1117).

Team: 1. Army (3329), 2. Madhya Pradesh (3258), 3. Maharashtra (3256).
