Commonwealth scholarship

THANJAVUR: The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has recommended Aditya Sankar and C. Karthikeyan, both final year B. Tech., Bioengineering students, of SASTRA University here for the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship Award for the year 2009 under the Postgraduate Degree category for Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering.

Amongst 100 students interviewed, only two scholarships were nominated and both of them were won by SASTRA students.

The Commonwealth Scholarship Plan tenable in the UK offers full scholarship to pursue PG education in any University in UK.

Aditya Sankar is planning to work in the area of Cancer Biology at Imperial College, London and C. Karthikeyan in the area of Ecology and Conservation Biology at Oxford University, and he has already obtained admission, said a press release issued here by the University on Friday.
