Chief Minister to meet MLAs

Special Correspondent

HOSANGADI: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa has decided to convene a meeting of all MLAs to discuss development works to be taken up in their constituencies to bring about a comprehensive development throughout the State.

Announcing this after dedicating the Stage-2 of the Varahi Hydro Electric Project to the nation at Hosangadi in Udupi district on Saturday, the Chief Minister said the main intention of such a meeting was to “change the picture of all the constituencies in the next four-and-a-half years of his term as Chief Minister.”

At the proposed meeting, he would assess the amount of funds required for each constituency to take up important infrastructure work. He said he would not discriminate between ruling and Opposition party MLAs in this.

He declared that he would change the picture of Bangalore city within two years by brining about massive infrastructure development.

Mr. Yeddyurappa, who completed 200 days in office as Chief Minister on Friday, used the occasion to list the development schemes taken up by his Government.

Although he admitted that the global recession would impact the State, he maintained that the impact would not be severe enough to halt its development as the “thrift” attitude of the people of the state will come to their rescue, he said.
