Slap ESMA on truck operators: PIL

Legal Correspondent

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will hear on Monday a public interest litigation petition to invoke the Essential Services Maintenance Act and the National Security Act against striking truck operators and to cancel their permits.

Earlier, advocate Sunder Khatri, who filed the petition, told a Bench, consisting of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan and Justice P. Sathasivam, that people had started feeling the brunt of the country-wide strike by members of the All-India Motor Transport Congress.
