KOZHIKODE: ‘POLYMCON ’09-Polymers Changing Frontiers,’ international conference organised jointly by the Department of Science and Humanities, National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) and the University of Leeds, U.K., began on the NIT-C campus, near here, on Friday. G.R.C. Reddy, Director, NIT-C inaugurated the conference. P. Predeep, head, Department of Science and Humanities, NIT-C, presided over the function. A. Jayakrishnan, Vice-Chancellor, Kerala University, released the conference proceedings. Jim Guthrie of the University of Leeds and Rosilda Selvin of Lunghwa University of Taiwan delivered the special address. The conference is aimed at providing a platform to discuss recent contributions in the field of polymer science and technology in a compact fashion, with an international perspective. Nearly 100 delegates from India and abroad are attending the three-day seminar. Rick Morris of Pall Life Sciences, U.S.; M.H. Gil, University of Coimbra, Portugal; and Karl I. Jacob, Georgia Institute of Technology, U.S., will deliver the special address in the coming days.
