G4S-Hindustan Club posts facile win

NEW DELHI: In a one-sided encounter, G4S-Hindustan Club scored a 4-0 victory over former champion Indian Air Force (Palam) in a group ‘B’ preliminary league match of the Delhi Soccer Association annual senior division open clubs league at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Friday.

Mid-fielder Jagbandhu Modi drew first blood in the 19th minute while Sovan Das made it 2-0 in the 31st minute.

Nigerian medio Nathan increased the lead in the 33rd minute and Mahender Singh completed the tally ten minutes later. Hindustan has eight points from four matches while IAF (Palam) has none from four encounters.

Sandeep Singh to lead

Sandeep Singh will lead the Indian hockey team on its tour of Argentina. The team will play four Test matches between Jan 18 and 22.

Two changes have been made from the team announced earlier, with Sardar Singh and Arjun Halappa being dropped and Ajitesh Roy and Bikash Toppo being brought in.
