Police response saves teenager
NEW DELHI: A quick response by the police helped save the life of an MBBS aspirant who allegedly attempted suicide at Gulmohar Park here on Wednesday.
The teenager locked himself up inside his hostel room in the afternoon and allegedly hung himself from the ceiling. When he did not open the door despite repeated knocks, the hostel warden called the police. A police team reached the spot and broke open the door. The boy was found hanging from a plastic rope. The policemen immediately cut the rope and rushed him to a hospital. On the way, the policemen resuscitated him by pumping his heart.
The boy was apparently depressed over having failed to clear the entrance test on two earlier occasions and was again preparing for the test.
