PM calls halt to Gaza hostilities

EZHIMALA (Kerala): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has condemned the conflict in the Gaza Strip and called for the immediate cessation of hostilities.

“I strongly condemn the hostilities taking place in Gaza and express dismay at the unfortunate killing of hundreds of innocent civilians,” he said inaugurating the Indian Naval Academy here on Thursday.

Describing the Gulf as part of India’s valuable extended neighbourhood separated only by the Arabian Sea and India as one of its sentinels, he said India and the countries of the Gulf had a shared view of peace and prosperity in the region.
