Trough of low pressure remains
Staff Reporter
CHENNAI: The trough of low pressure formed over southwest Bay of Bengal off the Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu coast on Wednesday remained in the same area.
However, it did not have the impact of rainfall on the city on Thursday.
Meteorological Department officials said the trough had helped in keeping the temperature levels normal and raised the minimum temperature to nearly 22 degree Celsius.
It is not unusual to experience rainfall in the city during this season. However, the rainfall pattern is not regular. The city receives about 10 cm of rainfall during the winter season in January and February.
The officials forecast a partly cloudy sky and a possibility of light rains in some areas on Friday as well.
