BANGALORE: Ryan International School (RIS), Kundalahalli, ushered in Christmas and New Year with “joie de vivre”, a perfect blend of tradition and festivities, recently. The event began with a performance by rock bands. . Students of the junior school of RIS, Yelahanka, bagged the first prize in Excelsis (carol singing competition), while the hosts received the first prize in the senior category. The RIS, Yelahanka, presented the classic “Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer”, while “O happy day…O come let us see the baby” was presented by RIS, Kundalahalli, students. Pastor Jonathan was the chief guest. The carnival also had IAFA fiesta, world’s first online film-making contest, for children. Florence FiestaFlorence Public School, R.T. Nagar, organised Florence Fiesta, an interschool literary, cultural and sports festival. The event attracted over 1,000 students from 30 schools across the city. Narayan Iyer, Chairman of Iris, inaugurated the event. Cultural programmes were held. “Time ur thoughts”, “rock stars”, and “R.J. ing” were part of the competition. Principal Abida and chairman of the institution F.A. Kudroli emphasised the need for a healthy competitive spirit and participation to explore talents. Carmel School, Padmanabhanagar, won the Cultural Rolling Trophy. V.V.S. Sardar Patel School, won the Literary Rolling Trophy, while Clarence Public School, JP Nagar, lifted the Overall Rolling Trophy. Vaishali of Carmel School, Padmanabhanagar, won the Voice of the Year trophy. Sonakshi Chakravarthy of Clarence Public School, JP Nagar, received the Child of the Year Trophy. Sports meetRashtrotthana Vidya Kendra (RVK), Thanisandra, organised its annual inter-school sports meet recently. M.K. Sunder Ram, vice-president, Vidya Bharati, declared the sports meet open. He told the students to participate in the meet with true spirit of sportsmanship and highlighted the importance of co-curricular activities to grow up as an individual. Vishnukanth Chatpalli, secretary of RVK, was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He stressed the importance of physical education for the overall development of a child. He gave away prizes to the winners in various events. Aniketh of RVK, Dharwad, bagged the individual championship in the junior category. Shivshankar of RVK, Dharwad, and Madhusudhan V. of RVK, Bangalore, bagged individual champions in the senior category. RVK, Dharwad, bagged the overall champions trophy. THE HINDU NIE TEAM
