Mysore: The district unit of the Communist Party of India (CPI) has strongly condemned the reported statement by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa belittling the trade unions affiliated to the Communist parties in the country, during his inaugural address at the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) conference here. In a release here on Thursday, CPI district secretary H.R. Sheshadri said that the Chief Minister’s statements on the Left-led trade unions was in bad taste. Mr. Yeddyurappa allegedly blamed the trade unions affiliated to the Communist parties for closure of industries in the Left governed states. He said that Mr. Yeddyurappa, who was taking away land of farmers for setting up Special Economic Zones, heavy industries and inviting foreign direct investment, had no moral right to criticise Left-led trade unions, which had made sacrifice for the sake of the working class. Mr. Yeddyurappa, who was indulging in activities like “Operation Kamala”, which was a slur on the face of democracy and opening fire on the protesting farmers, should concentrate on pro-people activities, he added.
