Mysore: The supply of petrol and diesel products may be affected from Friday since the petrol outlets in Mysore city are running out of stock owing to strike of officers of public sector oil companies.

Many petroleum outlets had displayed “no stock” board on Thursday.

“If the supply from the depots is not restored immediately, almost all the outlets in the city may go dry by Friday morning,” said S.K. Dinesh, president, Mysore Petroleum Dealers’ Association.

He told The Hindu that the customers are accusing the dealers of not lifting stock from the oil depots because of an indication that prices of petrol and diesel might come down.

“That’s not the case. We had stationed our tankers in front of the depot of Indian Oil Corporation since Thursday morning, but it is not in a position to release the load to the dealers because of the ongoing agitation of Oil PSU officers,” he maintained. “The situation may become bad on Friday if supply from the depots is not restored,” he said.

He said the supply situation had affected due to strike of officers of public sector oil companies and the District Administration had assured that sufficient quantity of petroleum products would be made available to the outlets by Friday. Mr. Dinesh said diesel would have also been out of stock a couple days ago if truckers were not on strike. Since trucks are off the road, diesel stock will be there till Thursday evening, he added.

Meanwhile, a group of dealers who belong to the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) staged a demonstration in front of the IOC depot at Metagalli here on Thursday in protest against the alleged “ill-treatment” meted out to them by the depot manager when they went to the depot to request for the release of petrol and diesel load following customers’ demand.
