Play ways: Winners of quiz competition P. Varun, S. Srinath, C. Sridhar. TIRUCHI: Cricket might be a game of glorious uncertainties. But a quiz on cricket is a different ballgame altogether. The certainty with which students sprang up at a lightening pace with answers won appreciation from all at the Cricket Quiz conducted by Tiruchi District Cricket Association (TDCA) as part of its Golden Jubilee celebration here. The 26 entries at the school level comprised 25 teams and a lone competitor. There were 15 teams at the college level. The Quiz Master for the final V. V. Ramanan was quite at ease with his natural flair in posing questions. Similarly captivating were the preliminary rounds handled by V. Ratnakumar. The questions on cricket facts, statistics, and player profile focussed on both international and domestic circuits. Top six teams were chosen for the finals based on their performances in the prelims. The audience was also quizzed and prizes were given. “The quiz programme only revealed the interest shown by the youngsters in knowing about the finer details of cricket. The queries at the competition also proved informative for the cricketing enthusiasts. TDCA is planning to make the quiz an annual event,” says the TDCA secretary K.G. Muralidharan. The Director, Dalmia Cements, N. Gopalaswamy gave away the prizes in the presence of TDCA president M. Kalidas. At the college level the first place was won by S. Srinath and P. Varun (SASTRA), second by S. Aravind and R. Hemnath (Pavendar Bharathidasan College of Arts and Science), and third by R. Balaji and G. Muthuselvan (Saranathan Engineering College). And at the school level C. Sridhar (RSK HSS) won the first place, R. Prasannavenkatesh and R. Prasanna (Sri Akilandeswari Vidyalaya) came second while R. Deepak and A. Varun (RSK HSS) got third.
