Women’s Commission launches telephone-mediated educational guidance programme

The dedicated number and e-mail address are 0413 2201154 and pwc_careerguidance@yahoo.in

An expert will respond to the queries of students and parents

PUDUCHERRY: Information on courses and career choices will be just a phone call away for students in Puducherry.

The Puducherry Women’s Commission has launched the telephone-mediated educational guidance programme for school and college students from January 7.

The aim of the programme is to create awareness of course choice, career choice after SSLC and higher secondary school over phone among students and parents, to guide students on how to study and score marks in the public examinations, help them get necessary advertisements, applications for their future development and guide the students to enable them select a right career course for their future, said a release.

For this, the Commission has launched a separate telephone number– 0413 2201154 – and also a separate e-mail address – pwc_careerguidance@yahoo.in.

Students and parents can call in and put forward their questions between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m. on Saturdays.

Other than these fixed days, the students can write a question on a white sheet of paper with complete address and phone number and deposit it in the question box kept at the office of the Puducherry Women’s Commission.

An expert will respond to the queries from students and parents on educational problems, study habits, learning techniques, scoring techniques, course and career choice after SSLC and higher secondary school over the phone immediately. Through this, the Commission aims to allay fear and uncertainty about future of the students, added the release.

Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy inaugurated the scheme and Chairperson of the Commission S. Kamalini, Joint Director of School Education R. Vanjulavalli and Chief Educational Officer C. Krishnaraj were present. More than 100 school students were present on the occasion.
