Karunanidhi resents CEC’s remarks

CHENNAI: Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday expressed his objection to media reports about Chief Election Commissioner N. Gopalaswami’s remarks about election irregularities in Tamil Nadu. In the DMK organ Murasoli, Mr. Karunanidhi said such an allegation in the midst of an election had never been made before by a Chief Election Commissioner. He assumed that Mr. Gopalaswami’s remarks were in response to the Opposition’s allegation that voting machines would be tampered with during the by-election. — Staff Reporter
