Training programmes from FACT

KOCHI: The public sector Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) hopes to open up a new chapter in its history with the launch of new industrial training programmes, including the two courses in industrial safety, health and environment that was launched here on Wednesday.

The Chairman and Managing Director of the Fertiliser Company Dr. George Sleeba said here that a welding institute, the Kerala Institute of Welding Technology, would be launched soon with the blessings of the State Government.

Dr. Sleeba said that it had been a long-standing wish of the Labour Minister P. K. Gurudasan that such an institute be launched for training manpower in Kerala.

The Minister who formally launched the two courses - Post Graduate Diploma in Management in Industrial safety, health and Environment and Diploma in Management in Industrial Safety, Health and Environment, said that it was important to train personnel in industrial safety and environment management. Prof. V. N. Rajashekharan Pialli, Vice-Chancellor of the IGNOU presided at the launch of the diploma courses.

The Labour Minister also marked the launch of the diploma courses by releasing the application forms of the courses.

K. Chandran Pillai, MP, offered felicitations. Dr. S.A. Pillai, Managing Director of IIMSHE, Bhopal, explained the objectives of the Diploma course. K. S. Divakaran Nair, Regional Director, IGNOU, welcomed the gathering.
