AN INSPIRATION: CPI (M) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan arriving for the release of the autobiography of senior Communist leader E. Balanandan at Kalamassery on Wednesday. — KOCHI: The autobiography of veteran Communist leader and former member of the CPI(M) Polit Bureau, E. Balanandan, records the history of the Communist labour movement, said Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI (M) State secretary, here on Wednesday. ReleasedHe was speaking after releasing the work titled Nadannu Theertha Vazhikal at Chakola grounds, Kalamassery, on Wednesday. Personal relationsMr. Balanandan preserved personal relations, which he maintained even with those who left the party after the split, Mr. Vijayan said. First copyK.N. Raveendranath, received the first copy of the book from Mr. Vijayan. HistoryThe history of the Communist movement in the pre-and post-Independence period is covered in the book. K. Chandran Pillai, MP, presided. Sarojini Balanandan; P.K. Gurudasan, Minister for Labour; S. Sarma, Minister for Fisheries and Registration; CPI(M) leader P. Rajiv; veteran leader K.C. Prabhakaran, and district secretary Gopi Kottamurickal were present. Mr. Vijayan also met Mr. Balanandan at his residence, as he could not make it to the function due to ill-health.
