Amberpet Shankar’s aide held

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A country-made revolver of .22 calibre allegedly used in the commission of a double murder 10 years ago was recovered by the police on Wednesday with the arrest of a 52-year-old man Thakur Kishan Singh.

Four live rounds were also seized from his possession.

The Commissioner’s Task Force (East) officials stated in a press release that Singh, an associate of Amberpet Shankar, was facing criminal cases in different police stations of the city.

Singh admitted to his interrogators that he aided and abetted Shankar in the latter’s illegal activities but never came to the adverse notice of the police.

He maintained that Shankar gave him the weapon for safe custody after committing a double murder in Dundigal in 1998. Singh told the police that he did not know from where Shankar had procured the weapon. He was handed over to the Amberpet police for further action.
