BJP welcomes court verdict

HYDERABAD: State BJP president Bandaru Dattatreya welcomed the lifting of certain restrictions on road shows of political parties by the High Court and described it as a victory for democratic forces.

Stating that the guidelines framed by the DGP had totally restricted political activities, he said the verdict was a ‘slap on the face’ of the system and the police. He alleged that government wanted to use the police to curb all political activity and said it was strange that the government headed by Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy, who had conducted a padayatra as leader of opposition, tried to regulate road shows.
