VISAKHAPATNAM: An earthmoving equipment being used for laying a road was reportedly set ablaze by the banned CPI (Maoist) members at Peddagaruvu village in Chinthapalli mandal in the early hours of Wednesday. The Maddigaruvu-Annavaram road via Tammangula and Tulam, covering more than 20 Primitive Tribal Group (PTG) villages, was sanctioned by the Government and the work which commenced recently came to a stop with the Maoists setting ablaze the JBC, about half-a-km from Peddagarvu, SP Akun Sabharwal said while condemning the incident. The villagers were doubtful whether it was the work of Maoists since no one had witnessed the incident. Road network was useful to tribals to transport their products to the market without delay as well as for medical aid and for the ambulances like108 to reach the villages.
