Vijayawada
VIJAYAWADA: The Real Energy, which is implementing Energy Saving Project for Street Lighting in the city, took objection to the demand that its contract should be cancelled in view of its failure to maintain street lights properly. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Real Energy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) K. Vijaya Kumar levelled serious allegations against corporators and temporary electricians working in the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) that they were creating hurdles in the implementation of the project. The temporary electricians deliberately sabotaged the company panels installed at various places fearing that they would be out of jobs if the company succeeded in energy saving, he said. The corporators were also attempting to get mileage out of the project by feeding false information to the corporation officials, he alleged. Dr. Vijaya Kumar sought to clarify that the VMC handed over the maintenance just a month ago. Moreover, the corporation had not handed over the maintenance with ‘zero failure’. There was no loss to the corporation as it would pay the bills only if the energy was saved. While energy saved so far would be about Rs. 40 lakhs to Rs.50 lakhs, the VMC has paid bills for only Rs. 3 lakhs, he added.
