N. Madhavan Pillai THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and ardent wildlife enthusiast N. Madhavan Pillai died here on Wednesday. He was 75. Mr. Madhavan Pillai is credited with a pioneering role in wildlife conservation in Kerala for having introduced into the forest management concept the approach of wildlife and biodiversity conservation at a time when forest management was all about revenue generating forestry. Logging gave way to conservation as it is known today during his leadership years in the State Forest Department. He is survived by his wife B. Valsala Devi and two sons, Wing Commnader M. Narayanan, now an HR consultant, and M. Balan, wildlife photographer.
