Chennai: The Chennai Corporation has installed traffic umbrellas at two junctions in the city. The stainless steel shelters have been designed to beautify the city and offer better facilities for traffic personnel, a release said.

The traffic umbrellas have been set up on a pilot basis. The shelter is fitted with a fan, lights and switches to control traffic signals. Light reflective stickers in blue have been fixed on the outer walls of the shelter.

The umbrellas have been installed near the Marina at Kannagi statue junction and on Radhakrishnan Salai. The Corporation has proposed to install 10 such shelters at arterial road junctions.
