Free IAS coaching academy planned
S. Ganesan
TIRUCHI: The District Welfare Committee will shortly set up an IAS Coaching Academy in the city.
It will be established on the sprawling Kalaiarangam (Thyagaraja Bhagavathar Mandram) campus, close to the Central Bus Stand, and will cater to aspiring youths from delta region.
The academy would also offer coaching for other competitive examinations, Collector T.Soundiah, who is the committee chairman, told The Hindu.
All coaching would be offered free to benefit the poorer sections.
The academy will be set up under a separate trust/society so that donations can be raised to supplement the contributions of the Welfare Committee, which maintains a separate district welfare fund offering financial support to needy persons.
The academy will strive to provide the much-needed motivation, orientation and exposure for the semi-urban and rural students of Tiruchi and its neighbouring districts.
Mr.Soundiah said that the focus would be on improving the soft skills of students. The academy would have a language laboratory.
A committee of academicians would guide the academy and the programmes would be run with the help of guest faculty.
“We want to start the academy as early as possible and a large builtup area at the Kalaiarangam Complex has already been earmarked for establishing classrooms and a library,” Mr.Soundiah said.
