Vedic scholar’s contribution recalled

CHENNAI: Speakers at a function here on Wednesday recalled the contribution of Ramanatha Dikshithar, renowned Vedic scholar, towards the propagation of knowledge of Vedas and several Shastras, particularly Dharma Shastra.

They were participating in a function organised by the Mayuram Dharmanga Ramanatha Dikshithar Trust to mark the centenary of the Vedic exponent. N. Gopalaswami, Chief Election Commissioner, who studied Sanskrit under Dikshithar, said though his friend and a son of his master, R. Subramanian, studied with him, Dikshithar always treated, in the class room, his son like yet another student.
