Bangalore: The results of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2008 will be announced on Friday, something that 2.76 lakh candidates have been anxiously waiting for. These candidates appeared for the CAT from 23 cities across the country to have a shot at the Postgraduate Programme in Management offered by the seven Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow and Shillong. Bangalore alone had about 26,000 aspirants who appeared for the test in 24 centres in the city. IIM, Bangalore, was in charge of conducting the examination in Hyderabad (with 19,000 applicants) and Pune (nearly 15,000 applicants). Getting resultsThe results will be available on Friday on the official website ( www.catiim.in). The scores can be accessed by keying in the test registration number and either the date of birth (preferred) or the CAT application number. Candidates can also access their scores via SMS. For SMS, the candidates can type “CAT test registration number date of birth (ddmmyy)” or “CAT test registration number application number” and send it to 57333. Ajay Arora of Triumphant Institute of Management Education (TIME), Bangalore, told The Hindu that the total number of candidates who are called for the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI) this year may see an increase. “The numbers will increase, as the next level of the quota for Other Backward Classes will kick in from this year. With this, the number of seats will naturally see an increase,” he said.
