Weaving magic with handlooms

VISAKHAPATNAM: With Pongal fast approaching, this is the time to go on a shopping binge. The ongoing handloom expo ‘Weaves’ at Vysakhi Jala Udyana Vanam has brought together an exclusive collection of sarees and textiles from all over the country. The exhibition-cum-sale is being organised by Revathi Creative Communications(P) Ltd and will be on till January 9 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. “The expo has the best quality handlooms sourced from various parts of the country,” claims Mohan Rao of Revathi Creative Communications (P) Ltd.

The collection includes cotton and silk sarees, dress materials, home furnishings like cushion covers, bed sheets and bed covers, quilts, tablecloths and curtains stoles and dupattas. A mesmerising collection of handlooms from the States of AP, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are available at the expo. Attractive range of Maheshwari and Chanderi sarees, silks like kosa, tassar, muga and eri, Rajasthan’s Bandhej and Sanganeri printed textiles and embroidered shawls, dresses and sarees of Kashmir are included in the collection.
