VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakha Goods Transport Association has decided to intensify the indefinite strike launched by lorry operator consequent on the failure of talks with the Government and the latter’s adamant attitude. Announcing this at a media conference here on Tuesday, president of the association B. Satyanarayana condemned the threat by the Government that it would cancel permits and use ‘ESMA’ against those who are on strike. “So far we have exempted water, milk and vegetables. We are going to take a decision shortly not to allow these essential services also and are prepared for arrests and action,” he warned. He lamented that the Government had failed to reduce the diesel charge despite the fall in prices of oil in the international market. Association secretary R.D. Mandal, vice-president B.K. Misra, joint secretary L. Srinivasa Rao were present.
