Murder accused held

CHENNAI: Sangeetha (30) of Vellore district who allegedly conspired in the murder of an elderly couple in Saidapet recently was arrested on Tuesday.

Police said the accused was cornered by a special team in Koyambedu. On interrogation, Sangeetha told investigators that she worked in a private detective agency on Anna Salai where she got introduced to Anantha Krishnan, the 60-year-old man who was murdered, along with his wife.

When the accused went to the meet the couple on a few occasions, she noticed some valuables, including gold ornaments, in the house.

Later, she conspired with her fourth husband, M. Dinesh, who murdered the couple with the help of two of his friends. “With the arrest of Sangeetha, we have solved the case and arrested those involved in the crime,” Commissioner of Police K. Radhakrishnan said.
