Rail Wheel Factory rolls over Coorg Blues

BANGALORE: Striking once in each half, Rail Wheel Factory defeated Coorg Blues 2-0 in the Karnataka State Hockey Association’s ‘A’ Division championship here on Tuesday.

After a few abortive attempts, RWF forged ahead shortly before the break, with Riyaz finding the mark in the 33rd minute.

In the second half, Chetan Krishna converted a penalty to consolidate its position. Blues made a few spirited forays towards the end, but in vain.

Veterans TT

The Karnataka Veterans’ Table Tennis Association will conduct the State veterans championship at the Malleswaram Association in Bangalore on January 10 and 11.

The events include open singles, doubles and team championship. Entries close on January 9 and details can be had from Mahesh Nayak, Secretary, KVTTA, Ph: 98440 21156.

Pavan School triumphs

At Hubli, Pavan English Medium School, Dharwad, won the KSCA under-16 inter-school cricket tournament with a 49-run win over Lions School in its last super league match here on Tuesday.

In other super league match Rotary School defeated Chinmaya Vidyalaya by four wickets.

The scores: Pavan School 164 in 41.3 overs (N. Aniketh 73, H. Rohit four for 21) bt Lions School 115 in 40.3 overs (P. Akshay 40, B. Likhit four for 22).

Chinmaya Vidyalaya 103 in 30 overs (U. Keertan 40, R.K. Tarun four for 23, Murali four for 25) lost to Rotary School 104 for 6 in 23.2 overs (R. Murali 49, P. Niranjan three for 31).
