Media awards for coverage of fete

Thiruvananthapuram: Education Minister M.A. Baby on Tuesday announced the media awards for the coverage of the 49th Kerala School Youth Festival that concluded here on Monday.

Mathrubhumi daily and Indiavision have been selected for the award for the best comprehensive coverage of the event in the print media and electronics media respectively.

Addressing a press conference here, the Minister said V.M. Kutty’s report in Madhyamam daily was selected for the best report award, while Thejas daily and Malayala Manorama cornered the glory for the best photographs.

A report in Janayugam daily came in for special mention of the jury. Mathrubhumi’s Gopikrishnan got the award for the best cartoon related to the event.

The award for the best report in the electronic media went to Ratheesh Anirudhan of Jaihind Television, with P.R. Praveena of Manorama News channel bagging the second place. Asianet News cameramen Theruvium and Titus S. Kumar were selected for the award for best camerapersons.

The jury made a special mention of the reports of Indiavision’s Seeji Kadakkal.

The Minister said that considering the popularity of FM Radio, an award for best reporting through radio also was instituted and 93.5 SFM was selected for the award.
