Coimbatore: A carton box containing the body of a two-day-old female infant was found in the heaps of garbage at Shivaji Colony, near Koilmedu, in Kavundampalayam area. Even the umbilical cords of the infant had not been severed. Police recovered the body and sent it for examination to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and investigations are on. BurglaryBurglars broke into the Anuvavi Subramania Swamy Temple on Monday night and decamped with the cash from the hundial. The burglary was noticed on Tuesday morning when the priest opened the temple. Even the jewellery on the presiding deities was also reported missing. Based on a complaint, the Thudialur police registered a case and are investigating. Miraculous escapeSix persons, including a pregnant woman, had a miraculous escape on Tuesday morning when a wild elephant attacked the car in which they were travelling from Kotagiri towards Mettupalayam. It is learnt that Guruasamy (25) along with his wife Gowri (20) were travelling from Kotagiri to Coimbatore after Gowri developed labour pain. The van driver noticed a wild elephant crossing the road. The driver waited for a while and when he tried to start the car, the elephant that emerged from a thorny bush attacked the car. In the impact of the collision, the driver’s door and front windshield were damaged. The occupants of the car raised an alarm resulting in the elephant withdrawing from the place.
