CUDDALORE: Licences of three private fertilizer dealers in the district were cancelled on Tuesday for defying a ban on the sale of complex fertilizers, according to T. Sundararajan, Assistant Director of Agriculture (quality control). In a statement released here, Mr. Sundararajan said that a ban was imposed on private dealers in holding stocks of and marketing FACT and SPIC complex fertilizers (20:20:0 composition) from January 1. The government had categorically stated that the private dealers would be prohibited from dealing in such fertilizers and only Primary Agricultural Cooperative Banks would be given sales rights from January 1. Surprise inspectionDuring a surprise inspection made in the godowns of Lakshmi Agencies at Periyapattu, Shanmuga Agencies at Mutlur and Vijayalakshmi Agencies at Bhuvanagiri, the rules were found flouted and hence the licences were cancelled, the statement said.
