Nod for new bungalows

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Cabinet on Monday approved the design for construction of bungalows for Delhi Ministers at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Ms. Dikshit later said the Government had decided to construct new bungalows keeping in view their shortage as only two Ministers have been allotted official bungalows in Delhi.

She said the allotment of bungalows to the Ministers would enhance their proximity to the people in Delhi and also make their working more smooth.

The design prepared by the PWD for the bungalows was approved by the Cabinet. Four bungalows are proposed to be constructed over a plot measuring 15931.22 sq.m. at 8 Raj Niwas Marg. The site is at present lying vacant. Two more bungalows are proposed to be constructed over land measuring 8011.01 sq.m. at 3 Atatur Rehman Lane. These have been designed as double storey structures, keeping in mind the needs of the Ministers. Office space and living rooms have been planned on the ground floor of these buildings.
