RTC ties up with five more hospitals

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has tied up with five more hospitals, including Mediciti, Hyderabad Nursing Home, Hyderabad Kidney Centre, Asian Institute of Gastroenterology and Vijaya Diagnostics, for medicare to its employees.

This is in addition to the four private hospitals for extending free medical facilities for its staff and their dependants. Inaugurating the Road Safety Week Celebrations, APSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director V. Dinesh Reddy on Monday said the Corporation would also identify such super-speciality hospitals at all district headquarter towns to extend the benefit.

He praised the staff and drivers of Satyaveedu, Mangalagiri, Kukatpally and Husnabad depots for an accident-free record in the year 2007-08. He informed that 3,076 accidents occurred in 2007-08 involving RTC buses and 1,256 persons were killed. However, till October 2008-09, the number of accidents came down to 1,802, he maintained.

He called upon the drivers to maintain an accident-free record and work for the welfare of the corporation. Later, APSRTC Chairman M. Satyanarayana Rao presented awards to 38 drivers working in different depots for maintaining an accident-free record. Hyderabadi driver S.K. Ahmed, an employee of Faluknuma depot topped the list, said a press release.
