Council polls on Feb. 6

HYDERABAD: Elections to fill five vacancies in the Legislative Council from the Local Authorities, Graduates’ and Teachers’ constituencies, who will retire in March next, will be held on February 6, 2009.

According to an official release, the retiring members are Ilapuram Venkaiah (Krishna Local Authorities), Kapilavai Dileep Kumar (Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates), K. Nageshwar (Mahabubnagar-Ranga Reddy-Hyderabad Graduates), Nallamilli_Sesha Reddy (East-West Godavari Teachers) and K. S. Lakshmana Rao (Krishna-Guntur Teachers).

The election notification is to be issued on January 13. January 20 will be the last date for filing nominations which are to be scrutinised the next day. January 23 will be the last date for withdrawal. The counting of votes will be taken up on February 9. The whole process is to be completed by February 11.
