Advani, Modi to visit State on Feb. 4

HYDERABAD: BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L.K.Advani will address a public meeting in Vijayawada on February 4 as part ‘Vijay Sankalp yatras’ to be organised by the party in all three regions of the State, Andhra, Telangana and Rayalaseema in the run-up to the elections.

State BJP president Bandaru Dattatreya told a press conference here on Sunday that a similar rally would be addressed by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in February second week in Karimnagar.

The date and venue of the Rayalaseema meet were yet to be finalised. He said that Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa would be felicitated here by the month-end.

From January 15 to February first week, the party leaders would address ‘sankalp yatras’ in 140 Assembly constituencies, focusing on the State government’s alleged failure to check terrorism, price rise and vote-bank politics, among others.

Each yatra would cover 100 villages. National party leaders would attend the Parliamentary conventions to be organised from February 16.

‘Dharma yudh’

Party general secretary K. Laxman said at many places names of voters were missing from the lists and wanted election authorities to ensure that all eligible voters were enrolled.

Party’s spokesperson N. Ramchander Rao said the legal cell would release a charge-sheet against the State government on January 20 as part of the ‘dharma yudh’ campaign. The charge-sheet would cover “irregularities” from ‘Jalayagnam’ to the fisheries scam. A dharna would also be organised here on the same day.
