Man Singh cleared of forgery charges

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Former secretary of Hyderabad Cricket Association P. R. Man Singh on Monday said that he had come clean on the alleged forgery case involving six clubs affiliated to the Hyderabad Cricket Association following the judgement of the Trial Court Judge last Saturday.

In a statement issued here, Mr. Man Singh recalled that in 2003, R. Vijayanand, son of late R. Dayanand (former joint secretary of Hyderabad Cricket Association), filed a complaint against him alleging that he (Man Singh) forged his father’s signature authorising him to look after the affairs of the six clubs of which he was then the secretary. Subsequently, the matter was put on trial in the Nampally Criminal Court with the IX Assistant Metropolitan Magistrate.

“With the complainant dragging the matter on flimsy grounds and skipping the court proceedings, I had to move the High Court to get a direction to give the judgement within three months. Despite several non-bailable warrants issued against Mr. Vijayanand, he kept his efforts on delaying the matter to the best possible extent,” Mr. Man Singh explained.

Lawful authority

“However, the judgement finally pronounced on January 3 acquitted me of all the charges alleged by Mr. Vijayanand. This established that the letter signed by late R. Dayanand (May 11, 1993) was genuine and that I am the rightful and lawful authority for managing the affairs of the six clubs -- Continental, Cheerful Chums, Chums XI, Superstars, Starlets and Royal Club,” Mr. Man Singh said.
