Applicants to submit more documents or pay penal fee

HYDERABAD: The GHMC has received an overwhelming 2, 00,157 applications for the Building Penalisation Scheme (BPS) last year but among them more than 96,604 are incomplete. It means they have to submit few more documents for their applications to be processed.

About 27,102 intimation letters have been so far served to the applicants urging them to submit the necessary documents or pay the remaining penal fees. It so happened that during the last days of the scheme coming to a close on July 15 last after being in vogue for more than six months, municipal authorities accepted applications even if all the documents or total fee was deposited.

While the BPS awaits clearance from the High Court, officials have been allowed to vet the applications and computerise the records. More than one lakh applications or 1, 05,553 have been submitted in full shape, said Chief City Planner B. Purushothama Reddy.

Among the applications received for regularisation, a vast majority pertain to residential apartments totalling to 1, 03,389 with the next highest being individual buildings of 77,640 applications. Besides, there are 11,951 commercial buildings, 138 institutional structures like hospitals, function halls and others. There are 5,181 other buildings and 21 multi-storied buildings of above 18 meters high.
