We’ll uncover full facts: Pakistan
Nirupama Subramanian
ISLAMABAD: The ball now in its court, Pakistan responded to the handing over of “information” by India on the Mumbai attacks with an assurance that it was determined to uncover the full facts behind the incidents and that it was examining the material it received on Monday.
Shortly after India handed over what is being officially dubbed a “dossier of information” linking the Mumbai attackers to Islamabad’s envoy in New Delhi, Indian High Commissioner Satyabrata Pal handed over the same material to Pakistan Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir here.
“The Foreign Secretary conveyed to the High Commissioner that Pakistan was carrying out its own investigations and was determined to uncover the full facts pertaining to the Mumbai terrorist attacks … The government of Pakistan will evaluate the information provided by India so far,” a Foreign Ministry statement said.
It was also Pakistan’s desire, according to the statement, to deal “effectively” with the issue of terrorism, which was a regional phenomenon requiring “close co-operation” between the countries.
