Villagers complain of cracks in walls due to blasting Protesters lock up mine officials for nearly two hours KARIMNAGAR: The Nava Telangana Party activists, led by its district convener Kaushik Hari and others, besieged the office of the Singareni Open Cast mine Project (OCP)-4 in Medpalli of Ramagundam region on Monday demanding the management to relocate the Medipalli village and provide suitable rehabilitation. Medipalli villagers had lodged several complaints to the Singareni officials about their relocation as their houses were developing cracks due to the blasting in the OCP for coal excavation and also as groundwater table was depleting. No drinking waterThe villagers complained that they were unable to secure drinking water and were suffering from air pollution due to the OCP. They urged the Singareni management to relocate their village to a safer place and take up coal excavation works freely. Irked by the negligence of the officials, the villagers locked up mine managers and other officials for about two hours. Later, the police and Singareni officials rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters and assured them of suitable measures. The protesters warned the management of serious agitation if the management failed to relocate them at their earliest.
