Association resents hike in railway fares
Staff Reporter
Kakinada: The founder of Cocanada Town Passengers’ Association S.S. Krishnaji alleged that the Railway Ministry committed a mischief by increasing the passenger fares without their being sanctioned in the Railway Budget.
He stated in a press release that the III A/C fare from Kakinada to Secunderabad by Gautami Express was Rs 499 four months ago and it was increased to Rs 514.
This is nothing but cheating the travelling public, which would force them to resort to legal action.
A PIL would be filed in Supreme Court if the situation warranted, Mr. Krishnaji warned and suggested to the Railway Ministry to restore old fares, he said.
