KADAPA: The LIC management’s negotiations with employees associations on wage revision held on Monday were irrational, CITU district president A. Raghunath Reddy alleged on Monday. The 12 per cent upward revision in wages of 70,000 LIC employees was inadequate, he said and demanded a 40 per cent hike in wages. LIC has not recruited employees for the last nine years and hence a massive recruitment was needed to reduce workload, he demanded. He opposed the LIC management’s proposals to indiscriminately transfer employees on administrative grounds. The management was planning to appoint employees on outsourcing, which amounts to an indirect bid for privatisation, he said. The management’s proposals to cancel half-day leaves and additional casual leaves was in tune with the UPA government’s Economic Survey 2008 recommendations, Mr. Raghunath Reddy alleged.
