Tenders for three sand reaches finalised

No bids filed for four reaches

Kakinada: Tenders for three sand reaches in the district have been finalised here on Monday by the auction committee headed by Joint Collector K Sasidhar. Of the total 15 reaches/packages, tenders were finalised for seven reaches on December 15, 2008. The auction of Rajavaram was stayed by the High Court. Tenders were invited for the remaining seven reaches but contractors filed applications for only three of them.

Alamuru-Kapileswaram, Korumilli, Atreyapuram-Lolla and Ravulapalem-Voobalanka were the reaches for which there were no takers. Vemagiri-Kadiapulanka reach (no. 10) was awarded to one Durga Prasad, who quoted Rs 36 lakh, against the upset price of Rs 34,80,400. Mr. Durga Prasad was the only one who staked claim of this reach. Yedurlanka-Gutthenadeevi-Muramalla reach (no. 6) was awarded to S.V. Sitapathi Raju, who quoted Rs 3,43,666 while the upset price was Rs 3.15 lakh. Three applications were filed for this reach. Ainavilli-Veeravallipalem reach (no. 30) for which 10 applications were filed, was awarded to A Nageswara Rao for Rs 32 lakhs against the upset price of Rs 12,84,900.

Mr. Sasidhar said the government would be apprised of non-filing of applications for four reaches and necessary action taken as per guidelines. Those, who bagged the contracts, have to remit 25 percent of the tender amounts within two days and the balance in seven days thereafter. All these are short tenders which would remain in force till March 31, 2009.

Deputy Directors Mohiddin (Mines and Geology) and R Ramalingeswara Rao (Ground Water), Assistant Director of Mines K Venkat Rao, Executive Engineer (Irrigation) V Venugopala Rao, District Panchayat Officer T Sravan Kumar and others were present.
