Kala Bhavan to be renovated

Staff Correspondent

HASSAN: Deputy Commissioner Naveen Raj Singh said here on Monday that the Kala Bhavan in Hassan would be renovated at a cost of Rs. 7.90 lakh. The work would be entrusted to Nirmithi Kendra.

Addressing presspersons after the Kala Bhavan Nirvahana Samithi meeting that was presided over by him, Mr. Singh said that the sound and light system would be improved, the roof would be repaired and all leaking points would be plugged.

Mr. Singh said he had directed the Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture, whose office is located inside the Kala Bhavan, to take permission from the Deputy Commissioner before renting the Kala Bhavan for any civil function.

He also directed the department not to allow any cultural functions on the Kala Bhavan premises. He said that there should be no concession in collecting rents. Whatever charges are fixed by the Government should be collected, he said.

Mr. Singh said action would be taken against troupes that misbehaved while performing programmes.

Superintendent of Police K.V. Sharatchandra and Assistant Director of Kannada and Culture Chandrappa were present.
