HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti has demanded that the government file a counter in the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal to lift the suspension orders it has issued on repatriation of non-local sub-inspectors and circle inspectors working in Hyderabad zone. The TRS wanted the government to stop promotions to deputy superintendents of police or confine promotions to eligible local candidates. Steps should be initiated against the officials who had delayed filing of the counter in the Tribunal. Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, TRS MLA T. Harish Rao alleged that 18 months after the Tribunal suspended repatriation of non-locals, the government was yet to file its counter to vacate the order. The delay was continuing despite a direction from the AP High Court that set a timeframe for the government to file the counter and expeditiously resolve the matter. This, he said, was reflective of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s intentions of shielding the non-locals at the expense of local employees. The TRS leader was critical of GO 610 House Committee chairman N. Uttam Kumar Reddy for not convening the meeting of the panel while Chief Secretary P. Ramakanth Reddy who had assured to initiate action, did not respond so far. Responding to queries, he said the TRS was yet to make an official announcement of its decision on entering into alliance with other parties and an announcement was likely to be made before the month-end.
