A decision to this effect was taken after the GHMC Commissioner SP Singh held a review meeting on the corporation’s resource mobilisation for this financial year. Mr. Singh said he was ready to personally intervene and conduct a meeting if required, with the ‘chronic defaulters’. The corporation had so far collected Rs. 230 crore towards property tax with Abids circle standing first with a collection of Rs. 16.89 crore, followed by Kukatpally - Rs.10.85 crore and Kapra circle – Rs.9.94 crore. He said collection of taxes should continue on all public holidays also and instructed the officials to hold meetings with the resident welfare associations. In respect of associations paying taxes in toto, the GHMC would take up works of preferred by the associations. He asked officials to visit residential colonies in the mornings and commercial establishments after 11 a.m. He advised the officials to concentrate on the verification of BPS / LRS applications and calculate the property tax according to the owners’ declarations in the BPS applications.
