TARGETED: The car that was set ablaze by a group in Tirupur on Saturday. COIMBATORE: The car of a real estate dealer was burnt late Saturday night at Nachipalayam Pirivu in Tirupur allegedly over a land deal. Palanisamy, the owner of the car, lodged a complaint with the police that a group of persons intercepted his vehicle and set fire to it after pulling him out. He claimed that Rs.20 lakh cash kept in the car was also burnt. He attributed this incident to the enmity another family had with him over a land deal. He alleged that one of the members of that family intercepted his car and set it ablaze. Held for stealing carThe City Police have arrested Saravanakumar (26) of Seeliyur at Karamadai in the district on charges of stealing a car from a hotel on Avanashi Road on December 31. A resident of R.S. Puram had lodged a complaint with the Race Course Police on New Year’s eve that he found his car missing from the hotel’s car park. Images captured by the closed-circuit cameras installed in the hotel showed a person trying to start the car. The police launched a search for the culprit. Meanwhile, Saravanakumar was nabbed by a patrol team when he attempted to steal a motorcycle from a parking lot near a bakery on Saturday. According to police, interrogations revealed that he had stolen the car from the hotel. The police recovered the vehicle.
