Traffic regulations for Vaikunta Ekadasi festival

TIRUCHI: The City Police have announced traffic regulations for the ‘Vaikunta Ekadasi’ festival at the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple on January 7. The regulations will come into effect from 6 a.m. on January 6 and will be in force up to 10 p.m. on January 7.

A release issued here said no vehicles will be allowed from Rajagopuram to Renga Renga Gopuram. The entire South Uthira street will be a no-parking area.

Cars and two-wheelers proceeding to the temple from Amma Mandapam Road will be diverted at Raghavendra Arch and should proceed via Malligaipoo Agraharam, Moolathoppu, Melur Road and Mela Gopura Vaasal.

The cars of VVIPs should be parked on West, North and East Uthira Veedhis, while the cars of VIPs should be parked on West, North and East Chithirai Veedhis. Other cars and two wheelers should be parked on Moolathoppu; West, North, East Adyavalanjan areas and on the open space in front of the old taluk office. Outgoing vehicles should proceed via Melur Road or through Keezha Adyavalanjan area, Devi Theatre or via Vadakku Vaasal Kollidam bank to reach the main road.

No vehicle will be allowed via Kollidam bank and Manjanakarai from Tiruvanaikoil Trunk Road to reach the temple. All tourist buses and vans coming to Srirangam should be parked at National School and E.R. School grounds and the tourists can take town buses to Srirangam.

All town buses bound for Srirangam will have to proceed via Mambazha Salai, Amma Mandapam Road to reach the old bus stand to drop passengers and take them and proceed through Renga Nagar, Gandhi Road Overbridge to reach Tiruvanaikoil road and to the city from thereon.

Lorries, heavy vehicles and vans bound for Tiruchi from Thuraiyur, Perambalur and Chennai routes will have to pass through No.1 Tollgate, Kollidam new bridge, By Pass Road, Palpannai round about and TVS Tollgate and return in the same direction. Vehicles will not be allowed via Tiruvanaikoil Main Road.

Lorries and heavy vehicles from Karur and proceeding to Chennai, Thanjavur, Madurai via Tiruchi will have to pass through Karur Bypass Road, Kohinoor Theatre junction, Sastri Road, Uzhavar Sandhai, Maruthi Junction, Head Post Office, TVS Tollgate and Bypass Road.

All buses and vans proceeding to Chathiram bus stand, Kollidam, Perambalur, Thuraiyur and Chennai from Tiruchi will have to go via ‘Y’ Road, South Cauvery bridge, Devadhanam to reach the Bypass Road. Heavy vehicles entering and leaving Gandhi Market should proceed via EB Road and Palpannai.
