MANGALORE: Six dance teachers were felicitated by the seer of Pejawar Math, Vishvesha Tirtha Swamiji, at a function to mark the birth anniversary of Bharatamuni here on Sunday. Those honoured were: Jayalaksyhmi Alva; K.B. Madhav Rao; Ullal Mohan Kumar; Kudkadi Vishwanath Rai; B. Premanath; and Master Vittal. Master Vittal had received the Rajyotsava award in 2008. ‘Right occasion’The seer said that those who had dedicated themselves to teaching dance had to be honoured and the birth anniversary of Bharatamuni was the right occasion to do so. Karnataka Karavali Nritya Kala Parishat, headed by Kamalakshacharya, had organised the event. Founder director of Nrithyalaya Trust Tulasi Ramachandra spoke about the life and contributions of Bharatamuni. Art critic from Manipal A. Ishwaraiah, Director of Prasaranga of Bangalore University D.S. Kamat, and president of Dakshina Kannada District Sahitya Parishat Pradeep Kumar Kalkura were present.
